Cody Rhodes in new career venture as WWE champion is handed acting role in ‘Naked Gun’ movie reboot

WWE star Cody Rhodes has set for a stunning career switch.

Rhodes, real name Cody Garrett Runnels, is the undisputed WWE Champion.

However, while the 38-year-old is no stranger to playing up to big crowds, he will be trying his hand at playing up to to TV screens.

It comes after Paramount announced Rhodes would be part of their reboot for a “Naked Gun” show.

The streaming service announced their “rounded-out” cast for the project on Thursday.

While fans will be excited to see the American hunk in the show, they will be left disappointed with the extent of his role.

According to Deadline, Rhodes will only have a cameo in the project.

The thus-far untitled project is scheduled for release in July 2025.

Other stars already announced for the show include Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand and Danny Huston.

New arrivals to the cast with Rhodes include Liza Koshy, CCH Pounder (Rustin) and Busta Rhymes.

Rhodes will not be the first WWE star to try their hand at acting.

Dwayne Johnson has become a massive Hollywood star in a number of adventure flicks such as Jumanji, while John Cena has had great success with his role as Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad.

Dave Bautista has also starred in comic books movies, playing Drax in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while also starring in Dune and Dune: Part Two as Rabban Harkonnen.
