MASON MOUNT reportedly could be handed a new position by manager Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United signed the midfielder in the summer for £60million from Chelsea.

How United could line up with Mount as a winger

Mount, 24, was expected to compete for a spot in the centre of United’s midfield alongside Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro.

However, the England international could see his position change due to injuries and absences in the squad.

Antony and Jadon Sancho are unavailable for the foreseeable which has left Ten Hag without a senior right-winger.

Antony is battling against allegations, while Sancho is currently suspended from United’s first team following a bust-up with Ten Hag.

Facundo Pellistri is the only option with first-team experience but still needs to improve.

Manchester Evening News has claimed that Mount could be given a chance to impress in the right-wing role when he is back from injury.

The midfielder is back in training and could make his return in time for the Premier League fixture against Burnley this weekend.

United do have other options to fill the midfield spot that Moutn would vacate should he move to the wing.

One of Scott McTominay and Sofyan Amrabat could come into the team and play alongside Casemiro and Fernandes.

Amrabat signed for United on loan from Fiorentina in the summer but is yet to make an appearance for the team.

The Moroccan has been on the treatment table since he joined, however, he could also be available for selection against the Clarets.

When Amrabate does come into the team it could help Casemiro get back to his best after his recent struggles.

He covered more ground than any other player at last year’s World Cup and his mobility could aid the Brazilian.
