The Team USA pair were beaten 2&1 as Europe extended their lead on day two at Marco Simone.

During the match, Spieth was spotted hitting out at a cameraman on the fifth hole.

After failing to find the green with his chip shot he let his frustrations out.

Having turned to stare down the photographer after the ball had left his club face, Spieth could be heard saying: “I mean guys, come on.”

His caddie Michael Greller also made his feelings known by adding: “Guys, watch the cameras.”

Reacting to the incident on social media, one fan wrote: “Spieth blaming a cameraman, rattled.”

Sky Sports’ on-course commentator Wayne Riley agreed, going on to also describe the former world number one as “rattled”.

Spieth’s difficulties were part of a difficult morning for the Americans.

Their woes included a record-breaking 9&7 win for Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg.

However, the reigning champions were able to win their first match of the weekend thanks to Max Homa and Brian Harman, ending the morning seven points behind Europe.

Their fortunes improved in the afternoon, too, as they took the lead in three of the four-ball matches.

Spieth and Thomas were one of the pairs to lead in their clash with Justin Rose and Robert MacIntyre on day two.
