What happens if the score is tied after the final black has been potted in snooker?

THE World Snooker Championship has thrown up a lot of mouthwatering ties – and one in particular has brought forward a conundrum.

Ronnie O’Sullivan and Stuart Bingham are locked in a mammoth quarter-final battle.

And nothing can separate the snooker icons who are level on points in Sheffield.

But what happens if the score is tied after the final black has been potted?

What happens if the score is tied after the final black has been potted in snooker?

If the score is tied after the final black is fouled or potted in a snooker match, the black is then re-spotted.

The winner of a coin toss by the referee decides which player will take first strike at the black; that player receives the cue ball “in-hand” for their first shot. Play then continues normally until the black is potted or another frame-ending situation occurs.

If the players reach a stalemate situation, as determined by either their own indication or the referee’s judgment, they may choose to discard the scores from the current frame and restart it.

Should the stalemate last for a certain period of time as specified by the referee, the players must restart the frame.
