Man Utd target Thomas Tuchel ‘in talks to STAY at Bayern in shock U-turn three months after it was announced he’d leave’

THOMAS TUCHEL could soon be OFF the Manchester United shortlist for the most unexpected reason.

The German has been rated favourite to step in if the Red Devils oust boss Erik ten Hag – but might now do a U-turn to stay at Bayern Munich.

Tuchel is reportedly in talks to remain with the Bundesliga giants next season, despite announcing in February he’d leave this summer.

England skipper Harry Kane‘s club have been knocked back by their top two choices to replace the ex-Chelsea chief.

Xabi Alonso, who was also linked to Liverpool, has opted to stick with first-time champions Leverkusen.

And second choice, Julian Nagelsmann, has decided to remain in charge of Germany rather than return to the Allianz Arena.

So it’s possible Bayern might offer Tuchel the chance of a third campaign.

German outlet Bild say the 50-year-old and his agent Olaf Meinking were spotted in conversation with the Bayern board.

That’s led to growing speculation of serious re-think on Tuchel.

If he does stay at Munich, and Ten Hag departs United, England boss Gareth Southgate would be judged by many as the new frontrunner for the Red Devils.
