Nigerian Celebrities That Have Been Arrested By NDLEA Over Drug Related Crimes

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in its war against drug-related offences have not failed to take the fight to celebrities.

The agency which frowns against drug trafficking and drug abuse has taken steps against anyone found wanting no matter your relevance in society.

NDLEA at one point or the other have arrested and detained some notable persons including Nigeria entertainment , due to their link to drug abuse or trafficking.

The latest incident saw the agency bust the resident of Marlian musicians, Mohbad and Zinolisky, to arrest them over drug-related offences.

NDLEA while giving a reason for arresting the singers, disclosed that its personnel found illicit drugs in the house of the artists.

Naija News has decided to take a look at some celebrities in the entertainment industry who have been arrested by NDLEA for drug-related offences.

1. CDQ

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on the 14th of April, 2021 arrested Sodiq Abubakar Yussuf, popularly known as CDQ at his Lekki residence following an intelligence report.

According to NDLEA, some substance known as ‘loud’ was discovered in the residence of the rapper.

The agency, however, released the rapper after he was granted bail.

2. Tochi Uche Odobuta

NDLEA on the 13th of March, 2007 apprehended popular Nigerian actor, Uche Odobuta for attempting to smuggle about 1.336kg of cocaine.

It was gathered that the actor was arrested while attempting to board a Virgin Atlantic Airways flight to London at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos State.

The actor who claimed that he was lured into the act by friends, was sentenced to eight months in prison.

3. Joshua Sunday (DeGeneral)

Popular skit maker, Joshua Sunday, also known as DeGeneral was arrested by operatives of NDLEA on the 12th of January 2022 after his residence was invaded by operatives of the agency.

According to NDLEA, drug exhibits including cannabis Sativa, Tramadol 225mg, and some paraphernalia for drug use were discovered in his residence.

DeGeneral after being charged to court was released after the court ruled that the exhibits discovered at their residence was too small to use for their sentencing, hence they were warned to desist from drug abuse.

4. Zinolesky And Mohbad

Operatives of NDLEA on Thursday morning busted the residence of Oniyide Azeez popularly known as Zinoleesky, and Ilerioluwa Oladimeji also known as Mohbad leading to their arrest.

NDLEA while giving the reason for their arrest, the Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi stated that personnel of the agency found illicit drugs in the house of the artists.
