Buhari, Tinubu, Others Should Stop Travelling Abroad For Medical Care – Kwankwaso

The Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwakwanso, has advised Nigerian leaders to stop traveling abroad for medical tourism.

The former Governor of Kano State said the leaders must desist from jetting out of Nigeria to treat themselves no matter the ailment and fix the medical facilities in the country.

Kwankwaso stated this on Sunday at a town hall meeting organized by Arise News, Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), and other partners.

He said that the issue of medical tourism must be eradicated, adding that his administration will reform and strengthen the health insurance scheme if elected as President in 2023.

The NNPP flagbearer also promised to use the local health facilities than embark on medical tourism if he becomes the President in 2023.

He said: “Our leaders must pay attention to the local health sector rather than abandoning the health sector in the country. As long as leaders go for medical treatment abroad, everyone will do the same. Once you are aspiring to lead the people, they will know whether you are the best or not.”

Speaking further, Kwankwaso promised to pull Nigerians out of poverty through housing, health, and job opportunities, adding that insecurity is also causing poverty.

He said: “In Kano, we pull people out of poverty through education. It was on our agenda.

Insecurity is also causing poverty. People cannot go to farms. Insecurity aggravated the issues of poverty. The number of poor people is much more than 133 million. We will ensure that there is security by recruiting more security officers and providing them with equipment and technology.

“We constructed four cities in Kano in four years just to ensure we remove people from poverty. Corruption and drugs must be fought for a saner society that will allow Nigerians to have job opportunities. There is also the need to look at the constitution as it is today.

“We will ensure local government councils work and use their resources effectively. We will create community participation. State governors are stifling local government funds. We are serving the same people. We will encourage the states and local governments to ensure that agriculture and electricity are given priority for job creation.”
