World snooker championship match halted as FROG NOISE plays out from Crucible crowd

A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP match was interrupted after a disrupting frog noise played out from the crowd.

David Gilbert took on Robert Milkins in an all-English battle for a place in the quarter-finals with the former leading with a score of 3-1.

David Gilbert had to recompose himself after a frog ringtone disrupted his gameBBC

But Milkins put himself in a good position to claw one frame back as he took a 54-point lead.

The two snooker aces found themselves in an intense back-and-forth resulting in Gilbert being left with a long pot on a red into the corner pocket.

Things got incredibly tensed at the Crucible as Gilbert got into position on the cue ball.

And that was when a ribbit sound echoed around the arena that made him jolt back to his feet.

A spectator appeared to have forgotten to turn their phone on silent and their ringtone interrupted proceedings.

Gilbert appeared to have seen the funny side of it as he smiled to himself as he tried to recompose himself.

Referee Desislava Bozhilova announced: “Please make sure your phones are on silent.”

BBC pundit Shaun Murphy wasn’t at all happy with the incident and didn’t hold back while on commentary.

Murphy said as he called the action for the BBC: “A frog ringtone there. Incredible… Just turn them off!”

Eurosport commentator Phil Yates doubled down on that disrupting incident.

Yates added: “Oh deary me. It’s not just a phone going off, it sounds like a frog croaking. It’s still going!”
