Ryder Cup legend looks unrecognisable with unruly hair after letting it grow out for hilarious reason

A RYDER CUP legend looked unrecognisable last summer after letting his hair grow out of a hilarious reason.

The former world number seven was pictured sporting an unruly new hair do on the Champions Tour.

He was snapped in April 2022 with greying hair and a striking moustache.

The golf star looked unrecognisable from his golfing prime, which had seen him pick up several wins on the PGA Tour.

Fans were left shocked to discover who it was debuting the new look, with his explanation even more surprising.

The golfer later revealed that his fresh appearance had started as a bet before getting out of hand.

Guessed who it is yet? The unrecognisable Ryder Cup icon is none other than Sweden’s Jesper Parnevik.

Detailing the story behind his look, Parnevik revealed that whilst his dad loved it, his wife was not as supportive of the hair.

“This new look started as a bet that I couldn’t cut my hair until I won a tournament,” the 58-year-old explained.

“The bad thing is I haven’t played since September so that’s pretty much it.

“My dad loves it, though. For some reason he has been a little bit upset the last 25 years when I shaved it.

“So he’s actually really happy about this one. My wife, not so much.”

Fortunately for his wife, Parnevik has since ditched the out of control look.

He was pictured at the Ascension Charity Classic earlier this month with short hair and grey beard in place of his moustache.

Parnevik has 15 professional wins during his career, five of which came on the PGA.

However, he has been playing on the Champions Tour since 2015 alongside other male golfers aged 50 and over.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, though, Parnevik became a Ryder Cup hero for Team Europe.

“Spaceman” represented Europe in the event three times between 1997 and 2002, winning the tournament on two occasions.
