Peter Obi Reacts To Violence Against Labour Party Supporters In Gubernatorial Poll

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has expressed sadness over the violence perpetrated on his supporters during Saturday’s governorship and house of assembly elections.

Naija News reports that the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections were marred by widespread violence.

Reports have clashes between different parties and media organisations made a wave with Peter Obi supporters being the worse hit in Lagos State.

Recall that the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in the state, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, had accused the police and the Independent National Electoral Commission of working with the ruling party to intimidate and suppress voters.

Reacting in a series of posts on his Twitter handle, Peter Obi wrote: “With sadness, my heart goes deeply to the Nigerians who lost their lives and those who were maimed for participating in such a simple thing as an election. My prayers and wishes for a quick recovery of the injured.

“My sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. May God Almighty grant them eternal rest, and grant their families the fortitude to bear their sad irreplaceable loss.

“I pray earnestly that God Almighty will save and help Nigeria out of this precarious situation.”
