My Brother, Wife And Children Killed As Gunmen Attack Plateau State – Resident

Seventeen people have been killed by gunmen in the Heipang community of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.

Among the victims was the family of a resident, Julius Pam who spoke with Punch on the attack.

He said, “Good morning sir. On a sad news, there was an attack early this morning in the Heipang community. A total of 17 people were killed including my brother, his wife and children, all killed.”

Sources at the Plateau State police command confirmed to the platform the deployment of security forces to the affected community.

In a related development, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, inaugurated a Security and Information Centre.

The facility, created by the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency, aims to foster improved communication between the public and the government.

Governor Mutfwang highlighted that the centre features a toll-free hotline (080 0000 5555) for residents to relay information. Assuring confidentiality, he urged citizens to promptly share security-related incidents.

The centre’s main objective is to swiftly address potential threats and obtain feedback on state affairs.

The statement released by the state government read, “Operating around the clock, the centre is geared towards efficient and effective service delivery, enabling citizens to report any issues relevant to the state.”
