Man Utd name THREE keepers on bench vs Bayern Munich as fans ask ‘how is this team playing Champions League football?’

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have been left baffled after Erik ten Hag named three goalkeepers on the bench versus Bayern Munich.

The Red Devils begin their Champions League campaign at the Allianz Arena tonight.

And ahead of kick-off, fans were left baffled by the United line-up.

Andre Onana starts in goal as expected with stoppers Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton and Radek Vítek all named amongst the substitutes.

Bayindir is yet to play for the club following his summer move from Fenerbahce.

Heaton has been at United since 2021 but has not made a competitive appearance yet.

And Vitek, aged just 19, has never made a senior appearance.

Supporters could not believe the lack of options, one said: “How is this team playing Champions League football?”

Another added: “Serious clubs do not name three goalkeepers on the bench.”

A third reacted: “If you are carrying three goalkeepers on the bench, then you have a problem.”

Man Utd are in the midst of an injury crisis and with numbers limited and there was also space in the squad for youngsters Omari Forson, Hannibal Mejbri and Dan Gore.

Meanwhile, Facundo Pellistri has been handed a start in favour of Alejandro Garnacho.

The Old Trafford treatment room is full of defenders with Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Aaron Wan-Bisakka, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia all out injured.

Therefore, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof are at the heart of defence with Diogo Dalot and Sergio Reguilon the full-backs.

Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund complete the starting XI.
