With most expecting a cross, the City midfielder decided to take a shot.

Silva whipped his free-kick towards the near post and beyond the Ukrainian’s grasp.

The unusual goal stunned the Santiago Bernabeu into silence.

TNT Sports commentator Ally McCoist slammed Lunin, saying: “I ain’t having the goalkeeper.”

Meanwhile, fans commented: “He should NEVER be allowed to get beaten from there.”

Another added: “That was a horrible mistake.”

However, the Treble winners joy was short-lived as Real Madrid hit back with two quick goals to make it 2-1 in the 12th and 14th minute.

Eduardo Camavinga’s long-range shot took a deflection and flew into the back of the net to equalise.
