KSI backed to bring Floyd Mayweather, 47, out of retirement by boxing icon’s uncle as huge exhibition purses revealed

KSI has been backed to bring Floyd Mayweather out of retirement for a huge exhibition fight.

Mayweather officially hung up his gloves in 2017 after beating UFC superstar Conor McGregor in ten rounds.

But the boxing legend has continued to remain in the sport through money-spinning exhibition bouts.

And Mayweather in November 2021 faced KSI’s younger brother Deji, 27, which he won after six rounds of taunting and showboating.

The antics enraged KSI and the YouTuber-turned-boxer opened the door to fighting the American icon in search of revenge.

And Mayweather’s uncle Jeff – a former trainer to KSI – admitted the showdown would be just the right thing to bring his nephew back.

Jeff told SunSport: “It’s a fight that brings a ton of money for both of them, so why not?

“I mean KSI, I worked with him and of course, there’s no YouTube fighter on the planet that’s going to beat Floyd, I don’t care what weight they are.

“They’re not gonna be Floyd. Floyd still has the body of a fighter, he still runs, once in a while he’s still in the gym.

“It’s been his life, that’s the life that he knows because he grew up that way. It’s installed in him.”

KSI, 30, has not returned since suffering his first boxing loss, a controversial decision to Tommy Fury, 24, in October.

But he is looking to fight again and named Mayweather along with McGregor, 35, Jake Paul, 27, and Fury on his least of potential opponents.

Mayweather, 47, has had seven post-retirement exhibitions against stars from the social media, MMA and boxing world.

His last was against the grandson of notorious mob boss John Gotti which ended in a disqualification win following a brawl in the ring.

Uncle Jeff defended Mayweather’s decision to carry on fighting deep into his 40s with millions to be made despite being past his brilliant best.

Jeff said: “I mean, why not grab $3-4million fighting a guy that has basically never done anything in the real sport of boxing?

“And it’s entertaining, it’s not even a real fight. We already know who’s going to win.”
