Kaduna State To Get Extra Ministerial Slot In President Tinubu’s New List – Aso Rock Source Reveals

There are speculations that Kaduna State might get an additional ministerial slot in the new nominee list to be presented to the Senate by President Bola Tinubu.

Naija News earlier reported that a reliable source in the Senate disclosed that President Bola Tinubu will send the second batch of his ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening on Wednesday (today).

Recall that the president, through his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila presented his first batch of ministerial nominees last Thursday to meet the constitutional deadline.

Gbajabiamila had promised that the President would be sending a second list of about 14 more nominees

Speaking to The Punch, the Senate source said the names of the second batch of nominees would either come on Tuesday night or very early on Wednesday morning.

The source also disclosed that the names of the new batch of ministerial nominees would be read at the plenary today.

However, in a fresh development, indications are that the President is considering giving an additional Ministerial slot to Kaduna state.

According to Nigerian Tribune, the consideration further compensates the North West zone, particularly for massively voting for Tinubu in the 2023 General election.

A reliable source from Aso Rock Presidential Villa, who didn’t want his name mentioned, told the platform on Tuesday in Kaduna that a former Governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Honourable Sani Sha’aban, is being considered for the second Ministerial slot for Kaduna State.

The source said Sha’aban, a former member of the House of Representatives and a close ally of President Tinubu, was the ACN Governorship Candidate for Kaduna State during the 2011 Governorship election, won by the PDP candidate, Ibrahim Yakowa.

According to the source, the second slot is to calm the agitation surrounding the appointment of the immediate former Kaduna state  Nasir El-Rufai, and also to work around minimizing support for the president’s re-election in 2027.

The source also disclosed that even though the odds favours Sha’aban due to his close relationship with Tinubu, the president was caught between picking the second northwest nominee from Kaduna or Kano State.

It was also argued the choice of Shaaban from Kaduna State is based on the fact that the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibril, and former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, who President Tinubu has reportedly anointed as the next National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), are both from Kano State.
