The Italian has been exceptional for Mikel Arteta’s side in recent months earning himself Man of the Match awards in huge games against Liverpool and Newcastle.

But with his contract nearing an end at the Emirates stadium, the 32-year-old could be heading back to his home country in the summer.

According to The Standard, a host of top Italian clubs are monitoring the midfield maestro including Juventus, Lazio and former club Napoli.

And Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, has dropped a huge hint that a return to Serie A is a serious option with a potential reunion with his former coach on the cards.

Speaking to TV Play in Italy, he said: “He’d suit Lazio more, for the presence of coach [Maurizio] Sarri who already knows his characteristics very well.

“But also Juve, who have a great director of sport like Cristiano Giuntoli, who he spent many years with at Napoli.

“I would not rule out a return to Napoli with new coach [Francesco] Calzona, who used to work with Sarri before that.”

Jorginho played under Maurizio Sarri during his days at Napoli and the 65-year-old tactician liked him so much he even signed him for Chelsea when he took charge at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri is now managing Lazio and could try and convince Jorginho to re-join him in Italy.

But it won’t be easy for him to lure the European champion away with Mikel Arteta said to be a huge fan of his.

Arsenal are reportedly preparing to open negotiations with Jorginho about a contract extension.

But the Gunners are believed to hold a one-year extension clause that would make keeping hold of their man a lot easier this summer.
