Fans ask ‘did we really need this slow motion replay?’ after Sky Sports’ bizarre video of Luke Littler match

DARTS fans were left asking “did we really need this slow motion replay?” as Luke Littler-mania reached bizarre new heights.

The 17-year-old sensation’s meteoric rise since December last year has had the darts world hanging on his every word and action – but fans felt Sky Sports took things a little too far on Thursday night.

It came as Littler prepared to take on Rob Cross in the final of Night 13 of the Premier League Darts, a game which he went on to win 6-2.

After being booed onto the stage in Liverpool, Littler realised he had a problem with opening his water bottle.

With his theme tune still ongoing, he danced over to a match official and asked if he could lend him a hand with opening it.

Sky Sports then offered viewers the chance to watch the action again, this time in slow motion.

Wayne Mardle on commentary offered a play-by-play of the incident while laughing and said: “We know he’s 17 and many people call him still a child.

“Well, he’s had to have the bottle undone by Scott Gibley who’s one of the markers.

“Rob was alright!”

But fans were less convinced they needed to see the video again.

One darts fan wrote: “Did we really need the slow motion replay of him opening the bottle”

Another agreed with Mardle and wrote: “Just reminds you Luke Littler is still only a teenager when he needs a grownup to open his bottle for him.”

A third Littler fan wrote: “Luke Littler may not be able to open a bottle of water, but he can half chuck an arrow.”

Speaking on the boos he received on the way to winning night 13, Littler told Sky Sports: “I knew what was coming this week and I was building up to it.

“I always engage with the crowd and the semi-final I was playing with complete freedom.

“I just felt comfortable tonight. I knew what was coming and I was glad to win.”

Inside Littler’s massive rise

LUKE LITTLER has taken the darts world by storm since exploding onto the scene at the PDC World Championship.

The Nuke reached the final on his Ally Pally debut at just 16 years of age – smashing records along the way.

He has since joined Jude Bellingham on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list.

And the teenage titan even had to snub an invite from the WWE.

The Sun exclusively revealed that Littler is plotting to create a fitness empire.

He is also cashing in away from the Oche thanks to an Instagram side hustle.

And he’s even the face of a brand new cereal.
