APC Chieftain, Yabo Dumps Party For PDP In Sokoto

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Hon. Dahiru Maishanu Yabo has renounced his membership with the party and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The politician was received into the umbrella camp on Thursday by the State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

Naija News understands Yabo was a founding member of the APC and a member of the defunct ‘Amaechi for President’ campaign team.

Yabo who has now pledged his allegiance to the PDP disclosed that there is now a cabal in APC that every office-seeking politician or member who wants to be involved in the progress of the nation or the State must join.

Yabo who was a former Commissioner for Information, as well as Solid Minerals in the State, was received by Governor Tambuwal, his Deputy, Manir Muhammad Dan Iya, as well as the State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bello Muhammad among other government officials at Government House, Sokoto on Thursday.

The new entrant, while giving reasons for his defection, claimed that his former party lacked internal democracy and was full of favouritism and bootlicking.

Yabo said: “The APC in Sokoto has formed a cabal of which you must be a member to have anything to do with the party or to be involved in the progress of the nation or the State”.

He assured that by the grace of God, himself and his supporters will back Team Tambuwal, the PDP governorship candidate in the State and all other candidates in the State under the PDP and even beyond, at the Presidency.

Yabo’s defection was disclosed in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday by the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to Governor Tambuwal, Muhammad Bello.
