Anambra Police Command Parades Fourteen Suspected Armed Robbers, Illegal Revenue Collectors At Onitsha

Anambra State Police Command has paraded fourteen male suspects who are engaged in illegal revenue collection and armed robbery in different parts of Onitsha.

The suspects who were paraded at the Police Area Command Headquarters, Onitsha, were arrested in separate raids by the command’s patrol team.

Among the fourteen suspects were two teenagers, who were arrested separately at Nkpor Junction and Awada Obosi while robbing people of their belongings with a make-shift gun at night.

Twelve other suspects were apprehended at Upper Iweka axis and Owerri Road where they are collecting unauthorized revenues from traders and vehicle owners.

The arrest of the illegal revenue collectors, according to the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Muhammed, who spoke on behalf the state Police Commissioner, Mr John Abang, is line with the directive issued by Governor Willie Obiano, to rid the state of miscreants who commit crimes in the guise of revenue collection.
