The Chairman of Accord Party in Anambra State, Bartho Igwedibia, has called on presidential aspirant, Peter Obi to join the party ahead of the 2023 general election.
According to Igwedibia, the resignation of Peter Obi from the Peoples Democratic Party is a blessing in disguise for smaller parties in the state.
Igwedibia while addressing newsmen at the state secretariat of the party on Thursday said the exit of Obi from the PDP is like a thunderbolt to his former party.
He called on Obi to purchase the party’s presidential ticket and take advantage of the platform of the party which is available.
The Accord Chairman said, “As you might have heard, many aspirants who bought forms to contest state assembly, house of representatives or senate in PDP are resigning in their numbers.
“A good number of people are buying forms in our party since Wednesday and I make bold to call on His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi, to equally take advantage and come to Accord because we have a veritable platform for him to achieve his presidential ambition.”
Recall that Obi resigned his membership from the main opposition party on Wednesday, promising to announce his next step ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
The former Governor of Anambra State, however, has not revealed the party he would be pursuing his presidential ambition on.
