Thierry Henry slammed for ’embarrassing take’ on Kylian Mbappe after PSG defeated in Champions League semi-final
THIERRY HENRY was slammed for his “embarrassing take” when he named Kylian Mbappe as Paris Saint-Germain’s greatest ever player.
The former Arsenal forward was analysing PSG’s 1-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund which saw them knocked out of the Champions League.

It meant that the Parisian club were knocked out of the semi-finals without registering a goal across two legs, despite having the dangerous Mbappe in their side.
Mbappe is almost certain to leave Paris this summer, with it widely reported that he has already agreed a deal to sign for Real Madrid.
Despite Mbappe’s disappointment across two legs, Henry insisted he will leave PSG as their greatest ever player.
His take came when Kate Abdo asked if he was the best player to play for PSG.
Henry responded: “It’s not even a discussion.
“For me Mbappe, with the impact he had all over the world and what he has been doing, he will go down as the best player for PSG.
“He can leave this club with his head held really high. Not everyone can win everywhere, especially the Champions League.
“The big man played well all his career with PSG, so I am not going to judge him on not winning the Champions League.”

The stats back up Henry’s claim, with Mbappe being the club’s all time top goalscorer with 255 goals.
And while he’s never won the Champions League with the club, nor has any other player from PSG’s past.

But fans did not like Henry’s statement regardless.
One fan wrote on X: “Statistically speaking, if you want. Other than that, he is not even a PSG great. Thanks for nothing, happy to see him gone!
Another added: “Hmm, love Henry, but can’t help but feel Zlatan or Ronaldinho would be above Mbappe.”
A third wrote: “When Ronaldinho is alive?????”
While a fourth said: “Neymar and Zlatan were both clear for PSG.”
After beating PSG in the first of the semi-finals, Dortmund are into the Champions League final and will face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid at Wembley.
