Wike: I’m Inviting President-elect, Tinubu To Inaugurate Projects In Rivers
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, revealed on Wednesday that he would be inviting President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to commission one of the projects constructed by his administration.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain revealed this today during a media chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers, Naija News reports.
Speaking on the just concluded governorship election in the state; Wike boasts that PDP won the election because his administration has done well for the people.
“There are areas you know this party will, there are areas you know this party is likely to win, and there are areas you know it will be tough,” he said.
“Every day we campaign, commission, and flag-off projects and you think the people are not seeing. Yesterday, I inspected two flyovers that I am inviting the president-elect to come and commission. Yes, I’m inviting the president-elect,” Wike noted.
According to Wike, his administration would inaugurate and flag off several projects before his tenure ends on May 29.
“By Monday next week, we will start commissioning another round of projects,” Wike said, adding that the people of the state have confidence in his government to fulfil his promises to the citizens.
G-5 Govenor Never Agreed To Support Peter Obi – Wike
Earlier, the Rivers State Governor said the aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did not agree to support the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, in the just-concluded presidential election.
Wike while speaking during his media chat with journalists in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, stated that the G-5 governors only reached an agreement and formulated strategies to ensure the emergence of a Southern President.
The Rivers State Governor stated that the aim of PDP governors was equity, fairness, and justice, saying that they are happy that a Southern president has emerged.
He said: “There was never a time the integrity Group met and say it must be this person. We only agreed on the Southern President. We formulated strategies and the southern President emerged. Our interest is that a southern President should emerge.
“When we went to our meeting, we decided on the Southern President. We didn’t say it must be this. We said whatever you are doing it must be the Southern President. The aim of G5 was equity, fairness, and justice”.
Speaking further, Wike said some of his colleagues such as Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu; Samuel Ortom of Benue, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia made huge sacrifices to ensure the emergence of a Southern President.
He said though Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state won his re-election, he had earlier said he would not mind sacrificing his second term in the interest of the unity of Nigeria.
