When did Stuart Bingham win the World Championship?

Stuart realised his lifelong dream when he lifted the World Championship trophy at the age of 38 in 2015 after defeating Sean Murphy 18-15 in the final of the biggest tournament in the sport.

On becoming world champion, Stuart said: “Twenty years as professional — blood, sweat and tears on the road.

“Qualifying in places like Prestatyn and Malvern. So many family and friends have backed me. It is unbelievable.

“I’m world champion but I’m going to be the same person, I’ll be playing in all the tournaments and hopefully I’ll be a good role model as world champion.

“Any kids growing up wanting to play, just stick at it. Lots of hard work, practice and self-belief, things like this can happen.”

And Ball Run is at it again at the age of 47, beating tournament favourite and world No.1 Ronnie O’Sullivan in the 2024 World Championship quarter-finals to set up a last-four match with fellow qualifier Jak Jones.

Following his stunning victory, Stuart said: “I think when he went 8-6, I don’t know where those two frames came from.

“I think the key was I was enjoying it. I was looking at the table, going toe-to-toe with the best player ever. I can’t believe I’ve come out on top!

“Something clicked in my game. Once I got amongst the balls I felt really good. I went for my shots, still went for my shots even when maybe I didn’t fancy them, but I was potting them. Big result.

“The screen went up. I most probably had two per cent of the crowd on my side and the barrier come up and it went down to 0.5 per cent.

“When you look around, there’s no better place. A calmness came over me. I made 100 and I made a 90. I thought, that’s it, game on!”
