Watch Moment New UK Prime Minister Performs Rituals At Entrance Of Downing Street

A video capturing the moment the new Conservative leader, Rishi Sunak performed some religious rituals on Tuesday morning before entering his new office at 10 Downing Street has surfaced.

Sunak, who emerged prime minister on Monday after his competitors withdrew from the contest, was seen bringing some substance out of his trousers pocket and lit oil lamps placed outside his office.

He became Britain’s third prime minister this year and the first person of colour to lead the former imperial power.

Sunak is the youngest United Kingdom PM at the age of 42 and the first of Indian and Asian origin who became the leader of the Conservatives after securing more than 100 nominations as the minimum requirement.

He succeeded Liz Truss who defeated him in the summer leadership race and his first speech said the country is faced with “profound economic challenges.”

Sunak also pledged, in his first address to the nation via a televised statement in front of 10 Downing Street on Tuesday, that: “I will unite our country not with words, but with action.”

Further, he continued his speech and said, “I have been elected as leader of my party and your Prime Minister in part to fix them. This will mean difficult decisions to come.”
