The former couple split after several years together and Bowles, who was born on December 24, 1948, later remarried.

He tied the knot with his second wife Diane Bushell but the exact date of their wedding is not known to the public.

Bowles’ womanising ways were no secret to the public and he was open about his love for the ladies in his 1996 autobiography.

Did Stan Bowles have any children?

Bowles was father to two daughters, named Tracy and Andria, and a son, called Carl.

His daughter Tracy announced his death on Facebook on Saturday February 24, 2024, posting on the social media site: “Sad to be writing this but dad has passed away.

“He was with all the family and went peacefully.”

Before he passed away Bowles’ other daughter, Andria, had spoken to the press about caring for her father after his Alzheimer’s diagnosis in 2015.

Sadly, she told the Daily Mirror in 2017 that her father no longer remembered her name.

She said: “He can’t talk any more, but we still have little moments, like when I’m shaving him and he’s making funny faces.

“He cries a lot. He comes and says ‘thank you’ or tries to, and I hug him.”

She added: “I spend so much time worrying about what will happen to dad.”

What teams did Stan Bowles play for?

Bowles began his career as an apprentice at Manchester City in 1967, before briefly playing for Bury, Crewe Alexandra and Carlisle United.

In 1972 he was signed by Queens Park Rangers (QPR), where he stayed until 1979.

From there, Bowles moved on to play for Nottingham Forest, Leyton Orient and Brentford.

Bowles also enjoyed a successful international career representing England.

The player made his debut for his country in April 1974 in a match against Portugal.

He made his last appearance in a friendly against the Netherlands in 1977 after having won five caps for England.

Bowles’ former QPR teammate Don Shanks once revealed how playing football was so instinctive for Bowles.

He told The Guardian in 2017: “While other players would be in a panic during a big game, or poor shape for a bad one, Stan would just play.

“[He would say] ‘Give me the ball, I’ll do the rest’.

“A football pitch was Stan’s natural home.”

What was Stan Bowles’ net worth?

At the time of his death, Bowles was reported to have a net worth of around £788,000.

The sportsman amassed an impressive fortune through his career as a player and a pundit.

He famously scored sponsorship deals with two different boot companies in 1974 and proceeded to wear one of each manufacturer’s product to the same match.

He wrote in his autobiography: “Nobody knew what I had done until a few days later, but it obviously didn’t go down too well when they found out.”

Despite having a lot of money coming in in his prime, Bowles was also open about his love of gambling.

Bowles’ fellow player Frank Worthington once said of the star: “Stan has spent all of his money on gambling, booze and birds.”

Bowles is then said to have responded: “At least I haven’t wasted it!”

It has been reported that the football player lost as much as £750,000 to gambling over the course of his career.

His former manager, Ernie Tagg, famously said of Bowles: “If he could pass a bookies as well as he passes a football, he’d be a very rich man.”
