Standing between Pereira and his first defence of the 205lbs is former champion Jamahal Hill, who is returning from a horror Achilles injury.

The pair’s Sin City showdown was put together in a matter of hours in late February by UFC president and CEO Dana White.

And the result has been somewhat of a shortened camp for both the champion and his upcoming challenger.

Pereira told Fox Sports Australia: “It’s an honour [to be on UFC 300].

“You know whenever the UFC put on UFC 100, 200 all these benchmarks it’s a huge deal.

“And you know, even though we didn’t have that much time, and everything was kind of, uh, rushed.

“I think I did a very good job and I’m ready to show it.”

Returning former champion Hill will be fighting for the first time since his masterclass over Pereira’s mentor Glover Teixeira last January.

UFC 300 – Alex Pereira vs Jamahal Hill: How to watch landmark Las Vegas event

The 32-year-old’s reign as 205lbs king came to a premature end in July after he snapped his left Achilles tendon during a light-hearted basketball game.

Hill insists he’s completely fighting fit, although UFC commentator Joe Rogan has concerns over the speed at which the Michigan mauler has returned to action.

“I don’t know [if it is fully healed],” Rogan said of Hill’s Achilles during a recent episode of his podcast. “I would assume it is.

“Otherwise he wouldn’t be jumping back in.

“I know it was more than eight months ago and he relinquished the title.

“I’d like to have a little more [recovery time]. I’d like to have a little more.”
