Tote reveal Epsom Derby and Oaks days to feature £250,000 Placepot pool minimum as Saturday sees World Pool return

TOTE are guaranteeing a bumper Placepot pool of £250,000 as a minimum on Epsom Oaks and Derby days this week!

A quarter of a million pound is up for grabs on BOTH Friday and Saturday on Tote’s biggest and most popular bet.

Tote normally keeps the big money for the weekend, with a £100,000 guaranteed midweek Placepot at selected meetings.

But that’s all change this week with an extra special £250k up for grabs on Friday.

The Placepot enables punters to potentially claim large returns for a small stake, and keep things interesting throughout the day’s racing.

And there’s more! Saturday sees the next meeting in their World Pool, meaning punters will benefit from the betting of the eight races on the card with punters across the world paying into it too.

It’s the third time that Derby day has been used as a World Pool meeting, with races including the feature G1 Derby, Diomed Stakes, Princess Elizabeth Stakes and Epsom Dash Handicap.

Last year’s Derby generated the highest single-race turnover of any World Pool race in 2022 – a whopping £6.74m.

It’s set to draw eyes from across the 28 betting nations who take part in the World Pool – and those not involved – particularly with it being Frankie Dettori’s last Derby appearance.

The legendary jockey feels he has a strong chance in the Oaks on Friday, though, claiming only three horses have a realistic chance in the race, saying: “I may be being a bit silly, but to me there’s only three fillies who can win it – Running Lion, Savethelastdance and Soul Sister. The rest have got a big gap to breach.”

Placepot selections

The Placepot is a bet where you select a horse to be placed in the FIRST SIX races of any meeting.

You can pick more than one horse in a race – you just multiply the number of selections in each race to calculate your stake. So for staking it’s 2x2x2x2x1x2 which adds up to 36 lines.

You can stake what you want upwards from 5p a line which would cost a total of £1.80. 10p a line is £3.60 and so on.

Provided at least one in each race is placed, we get a payout!

Not sure where to start with your Placepot selections?
