1. 2023: We Will Not Be Supporting Any Presidential Candidate – US Govt

The United States Government has said that it will not be supporting any presidential candidates in the upcoming 2023 election.

The US government also stated that it does not have a preferred political party and would retain a neutral stance as it has been in previous years.

He urged Nigerians to reject the use of violence during and after the election.

2. How Dare You Ask For Nigerians Votes After Obasanjo’s Revelation – APC Campaign Slams Atiku

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has on Sunday pleaded with Nigerians not to get swayed by the ‘sugar-coated’ promises of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

The ruling party’s PCC argued that Atiku is in a desperate position, hence he was trying to clinch the presidency at all cost.

This is coming barely 24 hours after Atiku pledged to duly grant the indigenes of Abuja all their entitlements and appointments when voted into power.

The Waziri of Adamawa had promised to guarantee the aspirations of the Abuja people in a reviewed constitution.

However, the APC campaign council insisted that the former Vice-President is simply making empty promises.

Speaking via a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Media and Publicity for the APC PCC, Bayo Onanuga, the party stated that it was quite a pity that the PDP who had pushed Nigeria into its locust years during it’s time in power was trying to rewrite history.

3. Tension In APGA As National Secretary Issues Stern Warning To Soludo

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has been warned not to convene an illegal stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

APGA’s National Secretary, Alhaji Muhyideen Imam, stated this in a letter entitled, “Beware of illegal APGA stakeholders’ meeting to be held at Awka on Monday, December 12, 2022′.

Imam said that, “Our attention has been drawn to a party stakeholders’ meeting which is being convoked by Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, under the supposed leadership of Chief Victor Ike Oye, at Awka on Monday, December 12, 2022.

“While the governor has the right to call for a meeting of party stakeholders at any time, we wish to state that such meetings must have the approval of Chief Edozie Njoku, the national chairman of APGA.

“As long as such a meeting does not enjoy the approval of the national chairman of APGA and the National Working Committee (NWC), it shows that Governor Soludo might be knowingly or unknowingly implanting division in the party, at this critical stage of the coming elections.

“This cannot be good for our election fortunes come 2023. We wish to advise all candidates and stakeholders of our great party to keep a distance from such a gathering, bearing in mind that there will soon be rectification of all candidates at INEC.”

The party warned that candidates that failed to heed to the warning would attract the wrath of the party, adding that, “We plead with Governor Soludo to endeavor to respect the decision of the Supreme Court which favoured Chief Edozie Njoku as the authentic national chairman of the party.”

4. Wike vs Atiku: Why PDP Crisis Won’t Affect Makinde, Ortom, Others – Bode George

A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a member of the Integrity Group, Olabode George, has stated that the rift between the group and the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, will not affect the electoral chances of the G-5 governors.

Of all the members of the G-5, only Governor Wike is not seeking to be reelected into any position but he is trying to install Sim Fubara as his successor.

Many are of the opinion that the refusal of the G-5 governors to back their party’s presidential candidate will affect their chances at next year’s general election.

Speaking to Vanguard, Olabode George dismissed any negative effect not supporting Atiku will have on Makinde who is seeking gubernatorial re-election, Wike’s governorship candidate as well as Ortom, Ugwuanyi and Ikpeazu who are contesting senatorial elections.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has vowed to block his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, Bola Tinubu from snatching power in 2023.

Atiku in a statement sent to Naija News on Sunday, accused Tinubu of attempting to arm-twist Nigerians in order to take over power.

The PDP candidate in the statement titled ‘Join me in the Army in Defence of Democracy’ submitted that the APC has failed Nigerians and the party as well as its candidate must not be allowed to return to power in 2023.

The former Vice President called on Nigerians to reject Tinubu and the APC during the 2023 general elections.

He made the submission in reaction to a viral video in which Tinubu was captured telling his team members that political power is not served in a restaurant or ala carte and a person must be determined to get it at all costs.

He noted that if taking over political power will involve fighting for it, an individual should snatch it, grab it and run with it.

However, Atiku has vowed to stand against the former Lagos State Governor’s ambition and called on Nigerians to join him in the struggle to ‘recover Nigeria.’

But in a statement on Sunday by his Media Aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku challenged Tinunbu to disclose his real source of wealth after he had said in 1999 that he could not complete secondary school because his family was too poor.

The PDP flagbearer wondered how Tinubu, whose family was too poor to send him to school, inherit properties from the same family.

Atiku also advised his APC counterpart to stop comparing himself with Warren Buffet, because his source of wealth has been linked to narcotics by US authorities.

9. Presidency Speaks On Alleged Embezzlement Of Stamp Duties Funds

The Presidency has refuted the allegation of misappropriation or embezzlement of Stamp Duties funds and cover-ups by officials of the administration.

Naija News reports that a member of the House of Representatives, Gudaji Kazaure, had alleged that officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), and the Protocol Department of the State House, were involved in the misappropriation or embezzlement of Stamp Duties funds.

Gudaji, who said he is the Secretary of the Presidential Committee on the Reconciliation and Recovery of All Stamp Duties, made the allegations in an interview on Friday.

The lawmaker claimed that he was blocked from meeting President Muhammadu Buhari in order to brief him on the progress report on efforts to trace the misappropriated N89.09trn.

Reacting in a statement on Saturday, Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, described the allegations made by the lawmaker as mere nonsense, saying that the entire net worth of Nigeria’s financial sector is not up to N50trn.

Shehu said it was absurd that a member of the Parliament would claim to be Secretary of an Executive Committee, adding that such a situation would be unconstitutional.

He, however, said President Buhari had since dissolved the committee Gudaji is claiming to be Secretary, stressing that such a committee does not exist again.

Shehu added that there is another committee, chaired by the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, set up in June 2020 by the President, which is still executing the task of reconciling Stamp Duties accounts.
