STRICT COMPLIANCE TO COVID 19 GUIDELINES TO STAFF, STUDENTS AND THE HOST COMMUNITIES OF ALL TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN KWARA STATE

The emergence of third wave of Covid 19 pandemic, Delta Variant has been noted. The placement of some states including one or more of Kwara State neighbouring states on red alert, calls for absolute caution.

The fact that Kwara State has not recorded any confirmed case of Covid 19 in the recent time suggests that if we continue to be proactive in observing all health safety protocols we can optimally prevent and spare our schools and communities from the third wave/new variant of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Hence it is imperative we continue to fully implement all precautionary measures at all levels.  Records show that although level of knowledge of necessary precaution is high, the level of compliance is low.

It is on this premise, His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, has directed strict compliance with Covid 19 protocols in all Tertiary Institutions in the State. Each person must take responsibility for his/her health safety.

Consequently the following measures are expedient:
•    No unauthorized visitors
•    No Squatters at Students Accommodations
•    Right use of face masks by everyone
•    Washing of hands
•    Observation of physical/social distancing
Above all, Management and all leaders in the institutions should show good examples with active health surveillance mechanism in place.
Looking forward for appreciable level of compliance in all endeavours, as the Ministry of Tertiary Education Science and Technology will monitor to ensure strict compliance with this directive.

Senior Ibrahim Sulyman (ESQ)
Honourable Commissioner,
Kwara State Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology
Thursday 22nd July 2021.
