Sky Sports forced to apologise for Ipswich star during live TV interview after dramatic win over Bristol City

SKY SPORTS had to apologise to viewers after Ipswich Town hero Ali Al-Hamadi dropped some X-rated language live on air.

The Tractor Boys remain three points behind leaders Leicester City and on course for promotion to the Premier League after last night’s thrilling victory over Bristol City.

The Robins took the lead at Portman Road before 22-year-old forward Al-Hamadi scored inside a minute of coming on as a second-half substitute.

But the visitors regained the lead only for Conor Chaplin to make it 2-2.

Then Iraq international Al-Hamadi had the opportunity to win it for Ipswich from the penalty spot – only to see his strike saved by goalkeeper Max O’Leary.

Fortunately for Al-Hamadi his team-mate Leif Davis popped up in the 89th minute to secure the points and keep them second in the Championship with just ten games to go.

The pair were interviewed on the pitch by Sky Sports after the rollercoaster encounter, but the ex-Wimbledon ace Al-Hamadi’s choice of language left the broadcaster red-faced.

He said: “I’m happy to come on and work my b******* off – sorry!”

The player, who moved to Ipswich from the Dons in January, started laughing as the Sky interviewer told viewers: “Apologies for the language there!”

Al-Hamadi struggled at Swansea City and Wycombe Wanderers before finally finding his form in League Two with Wimbledon.

And his 27 goals and eight assists in just 48 matches soon caught the eye of Ipswich, who he could soon be lining up for in the Premier League.

After the swearing, he added: “It’s an amazing story from the outside. I’m not shying away from the challenge, I love it.

“I’m here because I deserve to be here.

“I’m ambitious as a player, we’re ambitious as a club and just to join a team at such a high level and high intensity – there was a point in the middle of the season when it was tough, but I’ve adjusted and you’ve got amazing players and the boss have made me feel welcome.

“It’s just about trying to make an impact in any way possible.”
