Shinkafi Backs Out Of APC Chairmanship Race

Sani Shinkafi, aide to Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress national chairmanship race.

Naija News reports that this is coming five days before the national convention of the ruling APC, scheduled for 26 March, 2022.

Shinkafi, speaking at press briefing on Monday in Gusau, the Zamfara capital, said  he withdrew from the contest due to his respect for President Muhammadu Buhari.

The APC member added that he backed out of the race as a sign for respect party supremacy, stressing that the APC had zoned the National Chairman position to the North Central region.

He said: ”Zamfara is not among the states in the North Central, therefore, I cannot proceed with the contest, considering the fact that the party is supreme.

“I know what is called party supremacy, I know what is called party leadership and also know what we call respect for the stakeholders.

”And since the party has taken a decision, I have no objection to their decision.”

He, however, appealed to the stakeholders in the contest to align themselves with the party’s decision to stand strong and united ahead of the 2023 general elections.
