Running Mate: APC North-West Leaders Make Demand, Set To Meet Tinubu

The leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the North-West region have demanded that the vice presidential slot of the party for 2023 must be filled by them.

The demand was made at the end of their meeting in Kaduna on Thursday as contained in a statement issued by the APC National Vice-Chairman (North-West), Dr. Salihu Lukman.

He stated that the regional APC leaders are set to engage the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and other stakeholders to ensure their demand becomes a reality.

Naija News gathered that the Kaduna meeting was attended by APC Governors, gubernatorial candidates, Ministers and other leaders from the North-West region.

According to them, the region is a major contributor to party victories, providing 39% of the votes that gave APC victory in the 2015 and 2019 presidential elections.

The statement containing their position reads in part: “The meeting noted the contribution of the North-West to the emergence and growth of the APC and its electoral viability, with the North-West providing about 39% of the votes the APC recorded in 2019 and 2015 presidential elections.

“Therefore, the zone resolved to aggregate its interests and vital concerns and engage accordingly with the presidential candidate of the party.”

“Participants requested the National Vice-Chairman (North-West) to ensure that the consultative meeting is sustained as a vital tool for cohesion within the party.”

The meeting also discussed challenges been faced by the state chapters of the APC in the region and the need to reconcile and unite members ahead of the general elections.
