Ronnie O’Sullivan’s two-year reign as world No1 ENDS as snooker legend plummets down rankings after shock Crucible KO
RONNIE O’SULLIVAN’S two-year run as world No1 has come to an end following his shock exit at the Crucible.
The seven-time world champion, 48, failed to win a record eighth title in Sheffield as Stuart Bingham knocked him out at the quarter-final stage.

Kyren Wilson won the tournament, claiming his first Crucible crown with an 18-14 victory over Welshman Jak Jones in the final.
But it is Northern Irishman Mark Allen, 38, that has replaced O’Sullivan at the top of the World Snooker Tour rankings.
He lost to John Higgins in the second round of the worlds, but his five ranking titles across the last two years mean he has still been crowned the new No1.
O’Sullivan would have had to triumph at the world championships to maintain his No1 ranking as it is now the end of the season – meaning prize money from 2022 is discounted.
This means O’Sullivan’s £500,000 for winning the 2022 title is disregarded, so he has dropped to fifth.
He has fallen more places than any other player inside the top 20.
Judd Trump sits second, followed by newly-crowned world champion Wilson and 2023 winner Luca Brecel.
O’Sullivan, Mark Selby, Shaun Murphy, Ding Junhui, Mark Williams and Ali Carter make up the rest of the top 10.

Other significant changes include Robert Milkins dropping out of the top 16.
