‘Real Forces’ Behind APC’s Defeat In Kano Revealed

Women residing in Kano State have claimed responsibility for the defeat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday declared Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) as the winner of the Kano governorship contest with over one million votes.

Yusuf defeated the incumbent Deputy Governor and APC flagbearer, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who polled over 890,000 votes.

In a chat with newsmen on Monday, Daily Trust reported the women bragged that they are the core power that brought about the downfall of the ruling APC in the just concluded governorship election.

APC’s Bago Wins Niger Governorship Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate, Umar Mohammed Bago has been declared winner of the Governorship Election in Niger State.

Announcing the results at the Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, the State Collation Officer, Professor Clement Allawa, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, University of Abuja, said Bago pulled a total of 469, 896, defeating his closest opponent, Isah Liman Kantigi of the People Democratic Party who scored 387, 476.

Umar Mohammed Bago won in 20 Local Governments out of the 25 while candidate of the People Democratic Party won in 5 local governments of Mokwa, Munya, Edati, Lavun and Gbako.
