After taking repeated punches to the back of the head, he complained of feeling dizzy in the ring then later collapsed.

Colon was placed into a 221-day coma at hospital and was diagnosed with a 1.5cm left-sided subdural hematoma on the brain.

He underwent a complex surgery to reduce brain swelling and clear the hematoma.

Nearly eight years on, the Puerto Rican needs constant support and care from his mother Nieves as specialists oversee his ongoing recovery.

But in the latest video update, Colon is refusing to give up as he vows to keep battling.

The video, posted on his Facebook page to his 129,000 followers, shows the 31-year-old interacting with his mother, responding to her talking and trying on various pairs of glasses.

He even fist-bumps his mother, too.

The post is captioned: “Where are my supporters, they never give up on me.”

Various fans posted messages of support in the comments.

One said: “God bless him, he moves much more and looks much happier.”

Another wrote: “Worthy of admiration God bless you always and may you continue to move forward like the great person you are Prichard.”

A third added: “It’s good to see you so improved!”

And a final user replied: “We are all with you champion!”

Nieves regularly posts clips on YouTube to update fans on her son’s progress.

One recent video showed him attending a truck rally and now able to brush his own teeth.

On September 20, she also shared a film celebrating his 31st birthday.

Colon is seen smiling after getting a cake and receiving a signed boxing glove from rapper Daddy Yankee.

In February, the devoted mother uploaded footage of Colon in a specially adapted mobility chair and standing with support.

In 2017 the devastated parents filed a lawsuit seeking damages from the ringside doctor and the promoters of the fight for more than £41million, but it remains unsettled to this day.
