Preston youngster Finlay Cross-Adair, 18, rushed to hospital after suffering ‘serious injuries’ in traffic accident

PRESTON have confirmed that young forward Finlay Cross-Adair was rushed to hospital after a traffic incident.

The incident occurred in the evening of October 5.

A statement from the Championship outfit revealed the 18-year-old had been left with “serious injuries” as a result of the accident.

Cross-Adair is currently recovering in hospital.

Preston’s statement added: “The football club will show full support for Finlay and his family during his recovery.

“We will be making no further comment until it is appropriate to do so.”

The teenager made his senior debut for North End against Stoke in October 2022 and was rewarded with his first professional contract in December that year.

The striker, a boyhood Preston fan, is described as a regular in first-team training after helping the youth team to a League and Cup double in 2021/22.

In June Cross-Adair appeared in court accused of assault and stalking.

He was accused of seven counts of assault, stalking and engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in a family relationship.

The Championship club’s director Peter Ridsdale, previously chairman of Leeds United, was sitting in the public gallery for the player’s hearing at Preston Magistrates’ Court.

The alleged stalking is said to have happened between May and June this year, while he is accused of carrying out the coercive behaviour between January and June.

Magistrates granted the 18-year-old bail with conditions including not to enter Longridge and to reside at his grandparent’s address in Waingate in Grimsargh, Lancashire, as well as not to contact the victim nor any witnesses and to attend club training six days per week.

Cross-Adair later appeared at Preston Crown Court on June 30.

LancsLive reported that he spoke in court to plead not guilty on six charges of assault against a woman.

He denies five counts of assault by beating and a charge of ABH.

A trial is set to take place on February 5, 2024.

Judge Heather Lloyd made no amendments to Cross-Adair’s bail conditions.
