Piers Morgan slams ‘classless’ West Ham fans for treatment of Declan Rice on Arsenal star’s return to old club

WEST HAM fans have sensationally been blasted as “classless” after some appeared to boo returning star Declan Rice.

Rice joined Arsenal in the summer for a club record transfer fee of £105million after captaining the Hammers to victory in the Europa Conference League last season.

Like in East London, Rice has excelled in North London.

But on his return to the London Stadium, Rice was booed by a smattering of home supporters.

However, this did not go down well with Arsenal fans, who bit back to defend the 25-year-old.

This included outspoken Gooner Piers Morgan, who said: “So classless of West Ham fans to incessantly boo Declan Rice after all he did for their club.”

Another fan said: “Declan Rice, the man who brought West Ham their first trophy in decades and then more than 100M in a transfer fee, is being booed by the West Ham fans when he touches the ball. Supporters are dumb.”

A third: “Booing Rice for winning them a cup and getting them £105m quid? Idiots.”

A fourth said: “It’s very weird that Declan Rice gets booed by West Ham, lmao he did so much for the club.”

A fifth added: “I still can believe Rice is getting booed.”

However, a pair of assists – from a corner and free-kick – in the first half left Morgan feeling rosy on social media.

Morgan came in with a quad of boo related puns.

Firstly he said: “BOOOOOO () M! 0-1. Great corner assist by Rice, smart finish by Saliba.”

He followed that up with: “BOOOOO ()M!!! 0-2. Cool as ice by Saka.”

Piers then quipped: “BOOOOOOOO () M! 0-3. Another brilliant assist by Rice, and superb finish by Gabriel. The more West Ham fans boo. @_DeclanRice the better he’s playing.. … from BOOS to BOOMs.”

Next he added: “BOOOOOO ()M!!! 0-4. Brilliant by ⁦
@LTrossard⁩ .. Arsenal on … West Ham’s boo-boys all sloping off home before half-time! Lovely.”

An Arsenal win will put them to within two points of league leaders Liverpool.
