Peter Obi, Pat Utomi ‘Clash’ Over Labour Party Presidential Ticket

A former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi and a professor of political economy, Pat Utomi will today, Monday, tackle each other for the presidential ticket of the Labour Party (LP).

It was gathered that the national convention of the Labour Party will hold today in Asaba, the Delta capital.

Recall that Peter Obi had on Friday joined the party after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The presidential aspirant had said he joined the Labour Party to take the country from consumption to production.

“Therefore, I have chosen a route that I consider to be in line with our aspirations and my mantra of taking the country from consumption to production; and that is the Labour Party which is synonymous with the people, workers, development, production, securing and uniting Nigerians as one family,” Obi said.

A source in the party told TheCable that Obi and Utomi are the two leading presidential candidates of the party.

Meanwhile, Peter Obi has congratulated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for emerging victorious at the presidential primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Obi via his verified Twitter page on Sunday congratulated the former Vice President on his emergence as the PDP presidential flagbearer in 2023.

He wrote; “On behalf of my family, I sincerely congratulate my leader and dear elder brother, H.E @atiku, on his emergence as the 2023 presidential flag bearer of the @OfficialPDPNig. I pray that the Almighty God who sees your goodness will continue to bless you now and always. -PO”
