Following his arrival at Sao Paulo’s Albert Einstein Hospital, Pele was also diagnosed with a respiratory infection.
In a statement released by the hospital today, it was revealed: “The patient continues to show improvement in the clinical status, in particular the respiratory infection.
“He remains in a regular room, is conscious and with stable vital signs.”
It is still unclear as to when Pele will be able to go home.
Earlier this month, the three-time World Cup winner sought to reassure concerned fans regarding his wellbeing.
He wrote on social media: “Friends, I am at the hospital making my monthly visit.
“A note from the hospital, released to the Brazilian press, later confirmed: “After medical evaluation, the patient was taken to a common room, without the need for hospitalisation in a semi-intensive unit or ICU.
“The former player has full control of vital functions and stable clinical condition.”
