Osun 2022: INEC Confirms Adeleke As PDP Candidate

Nigeria’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed Senator Ademola Adeleke as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer for the July 16 governorship election in Osun State.

This brings to an end controversies over who is the authentic candidate of the opposition party in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections.

Naija News recalls that two candidates had emerged as flag bearers for the PDP after the party conducted its primary election in the state.

Prince Dotun Babayemi who belonged to another faction of the party in the state had challenged Adeleke for the ticket.

However, INEC in a final list of gubernatorial candidates released on Friday, listed Adeleke as candidate of the PDP.

INEC Also confirmed the incumbent state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola as the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Other candidates are Omigbodun Oyegoke, Social Democratic Party, (SDP), Abede Adetona Samuel, National Rescue Mission, (NRM), Oyelekan Akingbade, Labor Party) (LP), Adebayo Adeolu Elisha, Action People’s Party, (APP), Awoyemi Oluwatayo, Allied People’s Movement, (APM) and Awojide Peter Segun, African Action Congress.

Other are Accord – Akande Victor Babalola, ZLP (Zenith Labour Party) – Adesuyi John Olufemi, ADP (Action Democratic Party) – Kehinde Munirudeen Atanda, YPP (Young Progressive Party) – Ademola Bayonle Adeseye, PRP (People’s Redemption Party) – Ayowole Olubusuyi Adedeji, NNPP (New Nigería People’s Party) – Saliu Rasak Oyelami and BP (Boot Party)- Adeleke Adesoji Masilo Aderemi.

INEC also announced the disqualification of three parties AA, APGA, ADC for not meeting the guidelines for the exercise, Naija News reports.
