Oprah Winfrey Shares Horrible Menopause Experience, Symptoms

Media mogul, Oprah Winfrey has opened up about the symptoms she experienced during menopause.

The 68-year-old TV host disclosed that she suffered from severe heart palpitation that made her feel she was going to die.

Oprah opened up about her struggles with menopause during an episode of Paramount Plus’ The Checkup Wit Dr. David Agus.

Menopause is a process that signals the end of a woman’s menstrual cycle and the symptoms can be mild or severe.

Winfrey explained that her symptoms worsen to the point where it kept her awake throughout the night, making her question her sanity.

She said: “I have journals where I write things like this because I wasn’t too sure if I’d make it through the night.

“I felt like I will die every night.”

She noted that whenever she started to experience menopause, she begins to feel restless and was not able to focus enough to read.

The broadcaster also disclosed that it was the reason the Oprah Book Club ended, adding that one of her most extreme symptoms was heart palpitations.

‘I have been on perimenopausal, for my late 40s and I have heart palpitation. I went to see every doctor possible to try and figure out what was wrong with me,’ she said.

Winfrey revealed that she saw five different doctors, who tried to find treatment and the cause of her heart palpitations.

She described the time she went to see a female heart doctor who put her on heart medication and gave her an angiogram to show how blood flows through arteries, veins, or the heart.

“Nobody ever suggested once that what may be wrong with her was menopause,” Winfrey said.
