Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari.

Using the hashtag #NorthIsBleeding, some Nigerians from the Northern part of the country have taken to Twitter, a microblogging and social networking service, to demand President Muhammadu Buhari’s resignation over his failure to combat increasing insecurity in the region.

They also condemned Buhari’s visit to Lagos for the book launch of a political ally a few days after bandits burnt to ashes over 45 travellers in Sokoto.

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari.

They lamented that Northerners wasted their votes in electing the President.

Below are tweets from the conversation:

Dear North,
This is how is done,#NorthIsBleeding #NorthIsBleeding Yes we know North is bleeding but you never act toward your problems seeking a solid solution.
Amplifies your voices, protest day and night 24/7, the incompetent people in power hate protest just like #EndSARS https://t.co/U8AYveHEXA

While we are mourning the arson killing of tens of poor passengers in Sokoto state, the Nigerian President, @MBuhari of @OfficialAPCNg is in Lagos attending a book launch of a political ally. Zero empathy for the people. Crass irresponsibility of a leader. #NorthIsBleeding

The North has failed the North. We did this to ourselves. From our leaders who have so far been selfish, to us the citizens who have allowed ourselves to be deceived by both scholars and politicians. Everyone is mute now!!! #NorthIsBleeding

Buhari has no single element of empathy & he surrounded himself with likeminded people.
But on the other hand, how can we have 360 HRM,109 Senators and no single one among them could raised an impeachment motion against the President for all this incompetence.#NorthIsBleeding

Our leaders are in Abuja feeling secured
We are in towns feeling secured
Our ppl are getting killed everyday in rural areas
Our rural regions are our roots, our foundations, if they go down, we go down, it’s scary how we have accepted these killings as normal. #NorthIsBleeding
