The PUNCH: A crisis appears to be brewing over the ownership of the Kolmani Oil and Gas field as both Bauchi and Gombe States have started laying claims to the oil wells. Officials and residents of the two states have also accused each other of attempting to appropriate the site which is said to contain one billion barrels of crude oil reserves and 500 billion standard cubic feet of gas.

The Guardian: As the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) resumes operation on the Abuja-Kaduna train service today, the Federal Government may have lost a whopping N6.6 billion to the 251 days shutdown following the March 28 terrorist attack on the train in Rigasa, Kaduna State. The Guardian conservative estimate of loss is coming a day after the Managing Director of NRC, Fidet Okhiria, said government lost about N113 million to inactivity on the route for over eight months.

This Day: It was a battle of ideas, yesterday, at the third in a series town hall meeting, organised by the Arise News Channel and its partners, where three of the leading presidential candidates – the Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi and the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s Rabiu Kwankwaso – took on four critical issues of poverty, education, health and human capital development as central to the growth and development of the country, preparatory to the 2023 general election.

The Nation: Ex-depot price of petrol has risen by five basis points to N225 per litre, according to a survey of independent petroleum marketers. Motorists and commuters continue to groan as petrol scarcity remains. The pricing gap between regulated retail price by major oil marketers and the independent petroleum marketers widened to as much as 34 per cent.

Daily Trust: At least 46 people were reportedly abducted by gunmen in attacks on two separate communities in Batsari and Funtua local governments of Katsina State, at the weekend. Daily Trust gathered that one person was killed as some 28 people were abducted in Karare village of Batsari Local Government Area on Friday.
