Nigeria Vs Benin: Olaitan Predicts Defeat For Super Eagles, Ndidi Wants Revenge

Benin Republic forward, Junior Olaitan believes that his country can beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria once again.

Note that former Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, led Benin Republic to beat Nigeria 2-1 during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June, and they are meeting again in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in Uyo at 5 p.m. on September 7.

Ahead of the game, Olaitan expressed confidence in Benin Republic’s ability to secure three points in Nigeria for the second time in a row, adding that they are well-prepared for the challenge. He also highlighted the advantage of having a coach who understands the strengths and weaknesses of the Super Eagles players.

“The team aims to get the three maximum points in Nigeria. There is no doubt that it will be a tough game but we are prepared for what the Super Eagles will throw at us,” Olaitan told BSN Sports.

“We will build on the confidence of the victory in Abidjan in the last game between the two countries.

“To our advantage, we have a coach who knows the strengths and weaknesses of Super Eagles players.”

On the other hand, Wilfred Ndidi of the Super Eagles has assured that they are determined to make amends for their previous defeat to the Cheetahs.

Following Nigeria’s 2-1 loss in the previous encounter, Ndidi believes that the outcome will be different this time.

“We, as players, know what we did the last time was really bad. The game was really bad so it’s just what we are planning to do now to make everything right because everyone was disappointed in the first game,” Ndidi told reporters.

He added, “But there is no pressure to be honest because we know what we want to do. We know how we want to approach the game.

“We know mentally we are ready; we know physically we’re ready and fit to actually approach these games.”
