I Turned Down An Opportunity To Work In The Petroleum Industry For Skit Making

Popular Nigerian skit maker, Sophia Chisom, better known as ‘Soso The Pure Water Seller’, has opened up on the career opportunity she gave up for comedy.

The skit maker in an interview with BBC pidgin revealed that she is a Political science and Public Administration graduate from the University of Port Harcourt.

Soso disclosed that she served in the Ministry of Petroleum as a corps member and had a great chance of getting retained but she backed off owing to the fact that she never wanted a 9-5 job.

She said that her father was disappointed in her career choice and was of the opinion that he wasted his money in sending her to school.

The content creator explained that she was already posting several pictures online before she got the idea of creating comic content.

Speaking on her character’s costume, Soso revealed that the skirt she usually wears in her skits belongs to her mother, while the top is a random cloth she picked from her wardrobe.

She stated that it was her parent’s last born that bought the black bowl for her after she gave her sibling money for it.

Encouraging those interested in skit making, Sophia urged creators to remain consistent even when it seems their effort is not paying off.
