Man Utd ‘suffer embarrassing friendly defeat’ ahead of Newport clash as fans say ‘nothing shocks me these days’

MANCHESTER UNITED have suffered a confidence-denting training ground friendly defeat, according to reports.

The Red Devils have not been in action since drawing 2-2 with Tottenham on January 14.

Many of Erik ten Hag‘s stars enjoyed a break in Dubai as they looked to recharge their batteries following a busy Christmas period.

They are now all back at Carrington, preparing for this weekend’s FA Cup clash with League Two Newport County.

In a bid to get back in the swing of things, it’s claimed that a training ground friendly with Burnley, who themselves have not played since January 12, was organised.

According to Man Utd expert Fredrik Filtvedt, the Clarets beat the Red Devils 3-1.

Fans were left dismayed by the result, with one writing on social media: “Nothing shocks me these days.”

A second concerned fan posted: “*checks league position and form of Newport*.”

And a third moaned: “Crying. Get Ten Hag out ffs!”

Another gloomily added: “We are so f***ing s***.”

Burnley are 19th in the Premier League, having won just three of their 21 games so far this term.

Man Utd’s FA Cup opponents Newport, meanwhile, sit 14th in League Two.

Graham Coughlan’s side booked their place in round four by beating non-league Eastleigh 3-1 in a replay.

Prior to that they defeated Oldham and Barnet in rounds one and two.

Tickets for Newport’s clash with Man Utd sold out within just half an hour on Monday morning.

The fourth-tier side were forced to sell the final tickets for the game online after angry confrontations between supporters and staff at their ticket office last week.
