Man Utd ‘hold Thomas Frank and Pochettino talks’ ahead of Ten Hag decision after surprise FA Cup final win

MANCHESTER UNITED have held talks with Thomas Frank and Mauricio Pochettino over the manager’s role at Old Trafford, according to reports.

Current boss Erik ten Hag is still waiting to learn his fate despite leading the club to a second consecutive trophy in as many seasons yesterday.

Ten Hag masterminded an underdog 2-1 victory over Man City under the Wembley arch to lift the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.

But the Dutchman’s future still hangs in the balance after seeing his United side finish rock bottom of their Champions League group and have their worst ever league campaign – an eighth place finish.

According to the Telegraph, minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the bigwigs at United have been preparing replacements for Ten Hag while they await an end of season review before making a decision on his future.

They claim that Man Utd have held discussions with Brentford boss Thomas Frank and newly unemployed manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Manchester club have also held talks with Kieran McKenna, who has led Ipswich Town to two consecutive promotions.

It’s said that nothing has been decided yet and the talks are allowing the club to weigh up their options before making an official announcement.

Reports suggest that Frank, Pochettino and McKenna join England manager Gareth Southgate on the list of potential candidates for Erik ten Hag’s job.

SunSport understands that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been rattled by the fan power at the Man Utd, leading to a delay on any announcement on Ten Hag’s future.

The Billionaire Brit had decided to sack Ten Hag, but has been taken aback by the fans’ support of the manager following United’s FA Cup glory this weekend.

The backing of the boss has left Ratcliffe and his Ineos team in a spin regarding Ten Hag’s time at the Theatre of Dreams.

Ten Hag himself gave a defiant response when asked about what lies ahead for the former Ajax tactician.

Speaking following the FA Cup final, he said: “Two trophies in two seasons and three finals. That’s not bad.

“If they don’t want me any more, I will go somewhere else to win trophies. That is what I do.”
