Man Utd chief Richard Arnold set to leave role after Sir Jim Ratcliffe takeover as INEOS chief lines up replacement

MANCHESTER UNITED chief executive Richard Arnold is set to leave his role if Sir Jim Ratcliffe secures a 25 per cent takeover of the club, according to reports.

Arnold, 52, has held the position since he succeeded Ed Woodward in February 2022.

But his future looks set to be discussed as Ratcliffe prepares to assume a minority stake in Man Utd.

According to The Athletic, part of Ratcliffe’s plans to take control of the sporting side of the club includes a shake-up in structure.

Arnold’s departure is likely to be among the changes he makes to personnel.

And while this process could still take some time after Ratcliffe’s arrival, the British billionaire is understood to already be lining up his replacement.

Ex-Juventus chief exec Jean-Claude Blanc, who left Paris Saint-Germain in December, is said to be under consideration.

A Man Utd spokesperson told The Athletic: “We do not comment on speculation.”

Arnold has been working at Old Trafford since 2007.

He oversaw the club’s commercial growth, before taking over as Red Devils chief.

His predecessor Woodward confirmed he would step down following the huge backlash to the European Super League.

Arnold works at Old Trafford, unlike Woodward whose office was in London.

Meanwhile, one name Ratcliffe is expected to bring with him to Man Utd is Sir Dave Brailsford – best-known in England as a former performance director for British Cycling.
