Luke Littler reveals major change that helped teen star win his maiden Premier League darts title

Littler first took out world champion Luke Humphries before dispatching current Premier League king Michael van Gerwen.

And he continued his blistering form in the final with a 6-4 win over Nathan Aspinall.

The result marked Littler’s first win in the Premier League, just several months after his tour debut.

But speaking after the result, Littler admitted to making a key tweak with his sling work.

He said: “I’m happy to win, it’s my first one. I’m glad to win against a good friend.

“As people may have seen, I have changed my throw, trying to take that extra bit of time and then release the next two.

“Sometimes I rush my darts. I am taking more time before releasing the next dart.

“I have practised more for this and it has paid off. I had a good practice game before coming out with Rob Cross. It got me up for this.

“If you don’t enjoy it, you don’t perform. You won’t play well.

“Every arena had 5,000-plus fans. I cannot wait for next week in Manchester. It’s close to my home.”

Littler is now second in the Premier League standings ahead of clashes in Manchester, Birmingham and Rotterdam.

The competition then heads to Liverpool, Aberdeen, Leeds and Sheffield.

And the play-offs will be held at London’s O2 Arena on Thursday May 23.

The winner will bag an astonishing £275,000 prize, with second place pocketing £125k.

And Littler will be keen to ensure he takes his place on the podium in the capital.
