Luke Littler put into a headlock and told ‘what a pair of cojones’ after trying incredibly bold move vs Aspinall

LUKE LITTLER was told “what a pair of cojones” by Rob Cross after attempting a bold move against Nathan Aspinall.

The 17-year-old was in Premier League Darts action during Night 6 in Brighton.

Littler took on Aspinall in the quarter-finals at Brighton Centre, after Bully Boy had edged a tight encounter with Peter Wright 6-5.

The Nuke attempted to light up an erratic encounter with a brave move.

With 144 left, Littler hit a double 20.

He then tried to hit a double 17, which would have led to him finishing on a bullseye.

Unfortunately, however, he didn’t manage to make the double 17.

But his colleague Cross appreciated the effort nonetheless.

Seeing Littler backstage, Cross playfully grabbed him in a headlock while admiringly saying: “What a pair of cojones.”

Littler beat Aspinall 6-3 to book a semi-final place against Michael Smith.

He came unstuck at this stage, losing 6-3 to the 33-year-old.

On the other side of the draw, Cross defeated Premier League leader Michael van Gerwen 6-2 to hand the Dutchman his second consecutive quarter-final exit.

Luke Humphries, meanwhile, cruised past Gerwyn Price 6-2.

World champion Humphries then beat Cross 6-3, booking a final spot against Littler’s conqueror Smith.

The 29-year-old held his nerve to beat Smith 6-3, his first Premier League win of the season.

After the fact, he told Sky Sports: “I’m a good winner and a good loser. I’m not going to win nine nights out of 16.

“People expected me to win everything but that’s not going to happen.

“That was the best I’ve played since the Worlds. The fans are starting to take to me more. My target is to be in the top four. I want to make finals night.”

Humphries’ win saw him climb to second in the Darts Premier League table, behind Van Gerwen.

Littler is third, above Cross – with Smith fifth, Aspinall sixth, Price seventh and winless Wright eighth.

Premier League Darts will be back next Thursday in Nottingham, with Littler set to meet Van Gerwen in the quarter-finals.
